Most medicines should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children β not in the bathroom or kitchen, where heat and humidity are highest.
Bathrooms are actually one of the worst places to store medicine because steam from showers raises humidity, which can degrade tablets and capsules faster than their printed expiry date suggests. A bedroom drawer or a dedicated medicine box in a dry cupboard is ideal.
Always keep medicines, especially strong painkillers and vitamins that look like candy, in a high or locked cabinet. Child-resistant caps are helpful but not foolproof β location matters more.
Only store medicines in the fridge if specifically instructed on the label β most tablets and capsules do not need refrigeration and moisture inside a fridge can actually damage them.
